Stadler, the son of former Masters champion and 13-time PGA Tour winner Craig Stadler and Susan Barrett, was born in Reno, Nev. He moved with his family to Denver, Colo., where he attended Kent Denver School, excelling on the school's golf team. He went to USC and was named Pac-10 Golfer of the Year as a senior. He led the Trojans to their second consecutive Pac-10 championship, and finished his senior year with six top-5 finishes in NCAA play, including four 2nds. He was ranked 14th in the country among NCAA players. Played in five PGA Tour events in 2004, with a best finish of T-40th at the B.C. Open.
Web.com Tour Summary: Tournaments entered - 13; in money - 11; top-10 finishes - 4; scoring average - 70.77 (ranked 32nd); money - $288,001 (ranked 13th); best finish - winner, Scholarship America Showdown.
Web.com Tour Summary: Tournaments entered - 15; rounds played - 50; in money - 10; top-10 finishes - 4; money - $294,657 (ranked 12th); best finish - winner, Xerox Classic & Albertsons Boise Open.
Notes: Ended the year with a T-15th finish at the Children's Miracle Network Classic. Collected $73,600 to finish in the top 125. Moved from 127th to 124th.
Notes: Went back to PGA Tour Q-School, finished T-148th and had limited access for 2009, based on finishing in the top-150 category.
Notes: Had a runner-up finish and six top 25s. Finished T-2nd after losing his first PGA Tour playoff to Ryan Moore at the Wyndham Championship.
Notes: Claimed two top-10 finishes in his first four starts, with a career-best five top 10s on the season. Played in first FedExCup Playoff event, The Barclays, but missed the cut. Posted his fifth top-10 finish at the Frys.com Open during the Fall Series, moving into the top 100 on the official money list to clinch his Tour card for 2011.
Notes: Made 17 of 27 cuts, with one top 10 and six top 25s. Finished 113th in FedExCup points and 111th on the money list.
Notes: Had his career-best season, finishing 34th in the FedExCup race and 54th on the money list with earnings of $1,546,036. His best finish was T-4th at the RBC Heritage.
Notes: Made 17 cuts in 25 starts, with a T-3rd at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am the best of his three top 10s. Was 33rd in the FedExCup race and 68th on the money list.
Notes: Claimed a one-shot win over Graham DeLaet and Bubba Watson at the Waste Management Phoenix Open in his 239th career PGA Tour start. The Scottsdale resident began the final round two shots off Watson's lead and, despite a 1-over 37 on his inward nine, claimed the victory when Watson missed a five-foot putt for par on the 72nd hole. With the win, he and his father became the first father-son combo to play in a Masters in the same year. Finished T-8th in that Masters at even-par. Was runner-up at the Alstom Open de France after leading in every round. Faltered badly on the final day, shooting a 5-over 41 on the front nine at Le Golf National in Paris. Began the back nine bogey-birdie-bogey, but then was in position to at least force a playoff after making birdies at holes 14 and 16. Hopes of winning ended with a 72nd-hole bogey (missed two-foot par putt) that dropped him into a T-2nd (5-over 76) with Jaidee, a stroke behind winner Graeme McDowell. Played in three FedExCup Playoff events and was 38th in the rankings, 36th on the money list.
Notes: Over the fall of 2014, broke a bone in his left wrist, likely due to overuse. The injury forced him to withdraw after two holes in China at the WGC-HSBC Champions. At the time, doctors advised Stadler that he didn't need surgery but should take a 6- to 8-week break to rest the joint. He didn't play for two months and on his return at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions, he still had pain. After two rounds, it became so painful that he withdrew. Stadler has taken three months off, is feeling better and hopes to play in the Masters. If he does, he will be experimenting with putting left-handed. With the anchored putting ban going into effect at the start of next year, Stadler is looking at alternatives to using his long putter.
